About the Opportunity
The University of Tasmania's Menzies Institute for Medical Research is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Strategic Communications Specialist to join its Cardiovascular Research Flagship team.
This exciting opportunity will involve working collaboratively with researchers, policy makers, collaborators, and people with lived experience of cardiovascular disease to enhance research translation and communications efforts.
The successful candidate will provide high-level advice, guidance, and support across a broad range of communications, marketing, and event management functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective communications and engagement plans to support the goals of the Cardiovascular Research Flagship.
- Write, edit, and distribute content such as press releases, newsletters, social media posts, website updates, and event invitations.
- Plan, coordinate, and promote events such as webinars, seminars, forums, workshops, and other community-based activities.
- Oversee the social media presence for the Cardiovascular Research Flagship, including content planning, posting, and engagement.
- Work with the College of Health and Medicine's Communications Team to ensure consistency in messaging and branding.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication and engagement strategies.
What We're Looking For:
- A degree with relevant experience in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in a communications and/or marketing position, with a focus on health or science communication.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and work independently within established guidelines.
Salary Details:
This role will be appointed at HEO 6, with a total remuneration package of up to $113,029, comprising base salary ($89,091 - $96,606 pro rata) plus 17% superannuation.
