Located at the University of Tasmania, we are seeking a highly motivated Research Communications Specialist to join our team.

The Cardiovascular Research Flagship is a priority-driven research agenda focused on reducing cardiovascular risk and improving clinical outcomes. As part of this initiative, the successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing research translation and communications efforts.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual with experience in communications and/or marketing to work closely with researchers, policymakers, and community stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and engaging content for various audiences.

About the Opportunity

The Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies) is a leading health and medical research institute recognized worldwide for its research excellence. Our newly established Cardiovascular Research Flagship aims to work collaboratively with health professionals, policymakers, and the community to develop, implement, and evaluate interventions to improve cardiovascular health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and implementing effective communications plans to support the goals of the Cardiovascular Research Flagship.
  • Develop high-quality content, including press releases, social media posts, website updates, and event invitations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and promote events such as webinars, seminars, forums, workshops, and other community-based activities.
  • Oversight of the social media presence for the Cardiovascular Research Flagship.
  • Work closely with the College of Health and Medicine's Communications Team to ensure consistency in messaging and branding.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns.

What We're Looking For

  • A degree with relevant experience in communications and/or marketing, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Demonstrated experience in a communications and/or marketing position, preferably in a research environment.
  • Highly effective writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences and formats.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to act independently and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Details

This is a fixed-term appointment for three years, working 0.5 FTE. The salary range is $89,091 - $96,606 per annum, plus 17% superannuation, making the total remuneration package up to $113,029 per annum.
