Senior Content Specialist

The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Content Specialist with expertise in editorial management and stakeholder engagement.

Australia's only national institution focused exclusively on the diverse history, cultures, and heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australia, AIATSIS houses the world's most important and extensive collection of cultural information and material.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing content strategies to enhance publication outputs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide guidance on editorial best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the achievement of AIATSIS goals and objectives as a member of the Research and Education Group
  • Manage allocated project resources, set priorities, and establish work plans to deliver high-quality content
  • Conduct high-level written work, using analytical tools, concepts, and relevant information to drive content development
  • Engage with stakeholders on a range of issues, including complex and sensitive topics, to contribute to successful outcomes

Requirements:

  • Self-motivated, creative, and experienced working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Publishing and/or editing experience
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise and engage with stakeholders
  • Understanding of AIATSIS vision to create a world in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's knowledge and cultures are recognised, respected, celebrated, and valued
  • Informed, authentic, and respectful understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies, including ethical research and policy matters related to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Capability to incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' voices, experiences, and perspectives in all of our work
