Claims officers are pivotal to the success of liability claims teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The efficient management and validation of claims is crucial for our team's productivity and success.
  • We require an experienced claims officer with a solid understanding of policy coverage, capable of interpreting coverage requirements and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with insured parties, brokers, investigators, solicitors and the public is essential.
  • Our team operates within relevant statutory guidelines and standards, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • The initiation and completion of recoveries from third parties is a key aspect of this role.
  • Regular self-audit of claims files ensures positive internal audits and maintains high standards within the team.
  • A quick response to enquiries in an accurate, professional and courteous manner within privacy guidelines is expected.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Sound technical knowledge and ability to manage a diversified portfolio of bodily injury, property damage and product liability claims effectively.
  • An understanding of underwriting procedures for a diversified liability portfolio, coupled with the ability to interpret relevant policy wordings.
  • You will engage, instruct and work with relevant providers including loss adjusters, lawyers and consultants, building strong relationships along the way.
  • While legal qualifications are advantageous, they are not a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • Strong client/customer relationships will need to be built and maintained throughout your tenure.
  • Good problem-solving skills are essential - the ability to interpret technical / investigation reports and make sound business decisions is critical.
  • Your ability to participate in alternative dispute resolution will also be valuable.
