The opportunity

An opportunity for an experienced Public Liability Claims Officer with Personal Injury experience to join our Liability Claims Team.

Your new role
QBE Insurance currently have the opportunity to join the business in the role of Claims Officer within our SA/WA Liability Claims space.

This role is pivotal to the team's success, proactively supporting our claims philosophy and strategy, managing end to end personal injury and property liability claims and acting within legislative requirements to support the SA and WA Liability Claims unit in achieving its targeted objectives.

Please note this role may require some travel.

The key responsibilities for this role include the following, but not limited to:

  • Pro-active and efficient management of the claims process, resulting in accurate completion and validation of claims

  • Managing SA and WA Liability Claims.

  • Interpreting policy coverage and determining if coverage applies to claims submitted, escalating issues as needed

  • Establishing and maintaining good client relationships with the insured, brokers, investigators, solicitors and the general public

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory guidelines and standards

  • Initiation and completion of any recoveries from third parties

  • Self-audit of claims files to ensure positive internal audits

  • Response to enquiries in an accurate, timely, professional and courteous manner within Privacy guidelines

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Legal qualifications will be advantageous, however, not necessary.

  • A background in Public Liability/Personal Injury claims.

  • Experience with attending Informal Settlement Conferences, Mediations and Trials.

  • Sound technical understanding and ability to manage a diversified portfolio of bodily injury, property damage and product liability claims.

  • Understanding of underwriting procedures for a diversified liability portfolio and a proven ability to understand and interpret relevant policy wordings

  • Ability to engage, instruct and work with relevant providers including lawyers, loss adjusters and consultants

  • An understanding of, and demonstrable application of, the General Insurance Code of Practice

  • Ability to build and maintain strong client/customer relationships

  • Good problem-solving skills - ability to interpret technical / investigation reports to make sound business decisions

  • Ability to participate in alternative dispute resolution
