The salary for this role is estimated to be around $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience. Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Data Centre Technician. The successful candidate will support the Facility Manager with the day-to-day operations of the data centre, providing high-quality technical maintenance and customer service. This role will also serve as the lead SME for the team of Data Centre Technicians and participate in an on-call roster.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer communication skills, handling escalations with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Assess risk areas from OH&S, security, facility technical, and critical system operations, ensuring compliance with approved risk profiles.
  • Integrate and coordinate with NEXTDC Facilities teams for infrastructure supporting critical support systems, power monitoring, and rack locking.
  • Assist with customer deliveries, handling equipment and assembly as required.
  • Collaborate with Facility and Business Framework teams to develop workflows, processes, policies, and procedures for facility and system operations.
  • Mentor and support up to 6 direct reports to achieve continual improvement and professional development.
  • Monitor critical systems through Building Management Systems, diagnose failures, and escalate when necessary.
  • Participate in Facility Management-related tasks as required.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar role in a colocation facility or data centre.
  • Experience using test equipment to determine signal strength and traffic direction for diagnosing communication quality and faults.
  • OTDR competency to measure loss over network links.
  • Experience with fibre optic installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Electrical/Telecommunications experience and qualifications.
  • Proficiency in using a Building Management System and identifying various critical systems.
