Job Overview:

NEXTDC is seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Operations Lead to join its Darwin facilities team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality technical maintenance and customer service, while also leading by example and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer communication skills, with a proven ability to handle customer escalations and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Risk Management: Assess all areas of risk from OH&S, security, to facility technical and critical system operations, ensuring that customer services and business operations operate within an approved risk profile.
  • Integration and Coordination: Serve as an integration/coordination point into NEXTDC Facilities, for infrastructure supporting critical support systems, power monitoring, and rack locking, temperature, and humidity monitoring.
  • Customer Deliveries: Assist with customer deliveries, handling equipment and assembly as required.
  • Process Improvement: Work with members of the Facility and Business Framework teams to challenge, develop, and deliver workflows, processes, policy, and procedures for all aspects of facility and system operations.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and support up to 6 direct reports to strive for continual improvement and professional development.
  • Critical System Monitoring: Monitor all critical systems through Building Management Systems, diagnose failures, and escalate as required.
  • Facility Management: Participate in Facility Management related tasks where required.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar role in a colocation facility or data centre.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in the use of test equipment to determine signal strength and traffic direction to diagnose communication quality and faults, OTDR competency to measure loss over network links, experience with installations, troubleshooting, and maintaining fibre optic for customers, electrical/telecommunications experience and qualifications.
  • BMS Knowledge: Experience using a Building Management System and able to identify various critical systems.
