About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Advanced Geology and Coal Quality Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to develop innovative solutions to technical problems in a truck shovel operation.

This is a residential position based in the scenic Hunter Valley, providing an excellent work-life balance. You will be minutes away from world-class restaurants and vineyards and a short distance away from iconic beaches.

The role offers a competitive salary range of $110,000 - $140,000 per annum, performance bonus, employee share options, and a relocation package.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with Production, CHPP, Planning, Marketing, and Logistics teams to deliver against short-term planning targets;
  • Generate weekly coal schedules, optimising feed plans and blend to efficiently meet logistics needs;
  • Provide geological field support to site operational teams with coal recovery plans and pit inspections, focusing on quality;
  • Work proactively with production teams to sequence coal to the CHPP to meet quality requirements and manage coal quality, loss, and dilution, and ROM management;
  • Complete End of Month reporting activities;

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Tertiary Qualification in Geology, Mining Engineering, or an associated discipline;
  • A valid Australia Driver's Licence;
  • Scheduling experience and strong Microsoft Excel skills;
  • Experience in open-cut coal mining;
  • The ability to perform pit inspections and influence operational stakeholders while delivering to a plan;
  • Experience with and understanding of coal quality;
  • Detailed knowledge of industry best practice in horizon and grade control processes in a truck and shovel mining environment;
