About the Role

The Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant, Psychologist, OT or SW to join our team as a Court Liaison Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing specialist mental health services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mental health assessments and diversion or referral services for individuals appearing before the Magistrates' court or detained in the local watch house.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks associated with mental illness.
  • Provide education and support to individuals, families, and carers to promote mental health and wellbeing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including legal professionals, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
Requirements
  • Hold a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Have a current annual nursing practicing certificate Division one.
  • Be eligible for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Have a strong understanding of mental health principles, policies, and procedures.
