About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Tenancy Support Coordinator to join our team at Mission Australia Housing. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored support to our tenants, addressing challenges impacting their tenancy, and fostering independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and respond to referrals from our joint referral team, providing timely and effective support to our tenants.
  • Conduct home visits and risk assessments to identify areas of need and develop personalized support plans.
  • Collaborate with tenants to create tailored support plans, identifying necessary supports and resources to achieve their goals.
  • Assist tenants in transitioning to independence or other services, providing ongoing support and guidance as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date tenant files, completing required documentation and reporting incidents and hazards promptly.
  • Stay updated on relevant tenancy laws and guidelines, ensuring compliance and best practices in our support services.
  • Provide various forms of support to tenants, including emotional support, practical assistance, and advocacy, as needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance efforts, contributing to the continuous improvement of our support services.
  • Build positive relationships with tenants, external stakeholders, and community partners, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Work with our team to develop innovative strategies for improved outcomes, leveraging our collective expertise and experience.
  • Engage in community activities and partnerships that benefit our tenants and the wider community, promoting social inclusion and cohesion.
Requirements for Success
  • Degree in Community Services or a related field, with at least one year's experience in a similar role, or Associate Diploma with relevant experience or less formal qualification with substantial years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in housing or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals at risk of homelessness, including the complexities of tenancy and housing support.
  • Excellent knowledge of local services available in the Darwin area, including community resources, support services, and government agencies.
  • Ability to work empathetically, employing a strengths-based approach to develop personalized support plans and engage in collaborative problem-solving with tenants, families, and other service providers.
  • Exceptional listening and interpersonal skills, with a capacity to establish and nurture relationships with diverse individuals and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain accurate and current records.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and computer proficiency, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
