About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Local Area Coordinator to join our team at APM. As a key member of our community outreach team, you will play a vital role in supporting people with disability to live their best lives, exercise choice and control, and engage with the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with people with disability, their families, and carers to build and pursue their goals and aspirations.
  2. Connect people with disabilities to local community supports and facilitate greater community inclusion.
  3. Collaborate with NDIS participants to develop and implement plans that support their goals and aspirations.
  4. Support NDIS participants to navigate and optimise their engagement with the NDIS and disability service providers.
  5. Improve community knowledge of the NDIS and create new opportunities for people with disability to connect with services and support.

What You'll Need:

  1. Relevant experience in working with people with disability, lived experience of disability, or a passion to learn about the disability sector.
  2. Experience in coaching, counseling, and connecting people to identify and achieve positive outcomes.
  3. Empathy and compassion to understand the diverse needs of individuals within the community.
  4. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365 and Customer Relationship Management systems and databases.
  5. Access to your own transport and a current Working with Children Check.
