National Purchasing Specialist

Our organization is seeking a highly motivated National Purchasing Specialist to play a key role in ensuring the efficient procurement of goods and services. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective purchasing strategies, negotiating prices with suppliers, and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.

  • Negotiate prices and provide recommendations for purchases.
  • Ensure value for money outcomes are achieved through open competition with suppliers.
  • Stay informed of current market developments, new products, and price fluctuations.
  • Suggest alternatives and challenge purchase requirements when appropriate.
  • Review supplier agreements regularly.
  • Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal managers and suppliers.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Financial Administration:

  • Maintain an accurate system of processing requests, purchase orders, and invoices.
  • Raise purchase orders in a timely manner.
  • Approve and code invoices efficiently.
  • Review and suggest improvements to financial processes.

Licensing:

  • Maintain accurate records of all licenses and certifications.
  • Assist managers with obtaining necessary licenses and certifications.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Proven examples of drive and energy.
  • Motivated and able to think outside the box.
  • Prior experience as a Procurement Officer.
  • Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration degree advantageous.
  • Excellent negotiation and networking skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Experience collating and managing data.
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Positive and proactive attitude.
