The role of Purchasing and Shipping Officer is a key position in the supply chain operations. This vital member reports to the Import Manager and is responsible for ensuring that purchasing schedules and supply flows are optimized.

As a pivotal figure, you will oversee all aspects of international shipping, including finished goods and raw materials. Your goal is to ensure that Sorbent meets its customer supply requirements efficiently and on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify all finished goods and raw materials components to meet product demand
  • Monitor stock levels of Finish Goods and Raw materials to maintain minimum stock levels at Distribution Centers as per business requirement and process purchase orders to vendors as needed
  • Regularly review stock levels of consumables and process orders as required, with the aim to minimize costs
  • Pre-empt/identify and resolve any upcoming supply problems before they impact the operation
Shipping Coordination
  • Coordinate with freight forwarder, local warehouse, 3PL and customers to schedule incoming/outgoing container delivery dates and times
  • Make necessary arrangements to ensure efficient loading/unloading processes, and oversee end-to-end container delivery
  • Check duty charges and classifications, and manage any broker/classifier queries
Planning, Reporting, and Data Management
  • Generate relevant reports for internal and external stakeholders, including Shipping ETA Reports
  • Develop and deliver regular reporting against key performance indicators
  • Provide weekly or daily shipping updates to internal stakeholders
  • Maintain shipping records, including providing tracking or shipping history information
  • Process and file all documentation
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management/Logistics or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of experience working with databases and generating reports from various electronic sources
  • SAP (mandatory)
  • Intermediate skills in Word and Excel
  • Desirable: experience working with a direct importer in a freight forwarding discipline in ocean imports
  • Excellent planning and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail and checking skills
  • Ability to understand and analyze data
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal direct supervision while successfully completing daily tasks
