About the Role

The Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Elder Care Support Project Officer to join our team. As a key member of our community health program, you will play a vital role in supporting the Elder Care Support workforce employed within our member services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Connect with and support Elder Care Support workforce to ensure they have the necessary training and resources to provide high-quality care to older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Work closely with the Workforce and Training Coordinators to deliver training and onboarding programs for program staff.
  • Coordinate and organize workforce engagement activities, including Yarning Circles, to promote cultural awareness and understanding.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to engage with the Elder Care Support workforce and promote the program's objectives.
  • Provide proactive support and mentoring to the Elder Care Support workforce to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
  • Participate in regular monitoring and evaluation to ensure the Elder Care Support workforce continues to respond to the needs of older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and principles of community control and health sector.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a culturally appropriate and respectful manner.
  • Experience in developing, delivering, and facilitating training programs, particularly in the aged care sector.
  • Sound understanding of the aged care system and its complexities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of person-centred care and trauma-informed practice principles.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Qualification in community services, aged care, public health, or Aboriginal mental health first aid.
