About the Role

The Aboriginal Medical Service Alliance of the Northern Territory (AMSANT) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Elder Care Support Project Officer. This role is a critical part of our organization's efforts to support the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Primary point of contact for all ECS workforce enquiries, providing expert advice and guidance to support the delivery of high-quality aged care services.
  • Support the Workforce and Training Coordinator to develop and deliver training programs for program staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide effective support to elderly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Actively engage with the ECS workforce to understand their needs and provide proactive support, including ongoing mentoring and coaching to ensure they are equipped to respond to aged care information and service needs in the communities and member services where they work.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies and materials to support the ECS workforce, including Yarning Circles and other community-based initiatives.
  • Participate in regular monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure the ECS workforce continues to meet the needs of elderly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Support project management activities, including activity planning and reporting, as well as administrative record keeping and filing.
Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and principles of community control and health sector.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a culturally appropriate and respectful manner.
  • Experience in developing, delivering, and/or facilitating training programs, with a focus on aged care and community health.
  • Sound understanding of the aged care system and its complexities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of person-centred care and trauma-informed practice principles.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to establish and manage project administration systems, including data entry and reporting.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Qualification in community services, aged care, public health, or Aboriginal mental health first aid.
Additional Information
  • Original qualifications must be available for viewing and copies to be kept on personnel file.
  • Applications must have an Ochre Card and a Current Police Check and/or ability to obtain these prior to commencement.
  • The COVID-19 Safety Management Plan and other COVID – 19 related information Policy and Procedure require all AMSANT employees to have had a third COVID-19 Vaccination.
  • Applicants must be able and willing to undertake travel throughout the NT and Interstate (sometimes as a light aircraft passenger) and possess a C class Driver's Licence.
