Wellbeing Lead Counsellor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wellbeing Lead Counsellor to join our Behaviour and Specialist Programs Team. As a key member of our team, you will deliver high-level therapeutic case management, consultation to school teams, and work proactively in the area of supporting learning and teaching.
Key Responsibilities- Work within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) model to provide targeted interventions and support to students with complex and challenging behaviours.
- Respond to referrals from school counsellor colleagues who require intensive support for identified students and their families.
- Manage a caseload of varying degrees of complexity, working collaboratively with other members of the Behaviour and Specialist Programs Team, other Wellbeing Directorate teams, and teams within the Learning Directorate.
- Engage and work intensively with families to support their child and strengthen home-school partnerships across different schools.
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals to enhance student support and collaborate with schools and other professionals to support them in meeting the needs of students presenting with complex and challenging behaviours.
- Support leaders and staff to respond effectively to student risk and collaborate with the school team and other stakeholders to construct tier 3 behaviour plans.
- Consult and work with schools to conduct risk assessments and construct risk management plans to mitigate the risks presented by the student.

- Demonstrated understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people.
- Experience in complex case management and counselling families, children, and young people using evidence-based interventions.
- Experience in cognitive, emotional, and behavioural assessment of children and young people.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a registered Psychologist or Social Worker.
- Capacity to make a significant contribution within our system of schools to matters related to student welfare and wellbeing.
- Evidence-based professionally informed judgement in dealing with sensitive issues.
- Capacity to engage students, parents, and teachers in the counselling process.
- Capability to facilitate parent and caregiver education.
- Supportive of our Catholic ethos.
- Relevant tertiary qualification.
- Eligible for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or general registration as a psychologist with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
