Disability Support Role Overview

The Disability Support Worker plays a vital role in assisting individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.

This is a hands-on capacity building position that ensures participants have a holistic approach to bettering their lives through assistance with essential life skills, decision-making support, and goal-setting.

  • Support participants in learning new skills to enhance their independence
  • Collaborate with participants to identify goals and set action plans
  • Assist with budgeting and money handling skills for financial stability
  • Transport participants safely to relevant areas
  • Liaise with disability employment providers to work towards employment-based goals

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate III or above in Community Services & Individual Support or relevant experience
  • Proven ability to build individuals' capacity to learn new skills
  • WWCC & NDISWC including a police check or willingness to obtain
  • Full driver's license
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Above-and-beyond patience and understanding
  • Professional conflict and communication
  • Thorough understanding of disability supports
