Roster: 4D/4N/8R - FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue Metals Group is seeking a motivated Rail Scheduling Specialist to join our team, based in Port Hedland on a FIFO or residential basis. Reporting to the Rail Operations Superintendent, the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network across Port, Kanyirri, Thomas, and Rail Service Yards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the rail network, covering the Port, Kanyirri, Thomas, and Rail Service Yards, with an emphasis on smooth coordination and communication.
- Provide real-time technical support and guidance to field operations teams, facilitating timely and informed decision-making for on-the-ground teams.
- Utilize agile decision-making and contingency planning to schedule crews for both operational and maintenance activities. Adapt to dynamic conditions by addressing breakdowns and planned shunts in a prompt and effective manner.
- Manage weekly crew rostering using specialized rostering tools to ensure operational requirements are met efficiently and safely.
- Conduct checks and manage adjustments to flights and accommodations, ensuring all crew members are well-prepared and positioned for their duties.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience in rail operations, scheduling, or a similar industry.
- Strong decision-making skills with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Proficiency in rostering tools and experience with crew logistics.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns and scheduling changes.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
