Role Overview

This exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Community Engagement Officer to join our team at Ingkintja Male Health Centre. As a key member of our male health program, you will play a vital role in delivering culturally appropriate health support services to Aboriginal men in Alice Springs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the social determinants of health and the impact of cultural factors on health outcomes. You will be responsible for developing and implementing individual and group programs to provide vulnerable and disadvantaged Aboriginal males with meaningful activities to improve their physical health, well-being, social connectedness and enable a sense of purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individual and group programs to engage Aboriginal men in health-promoting activities
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop strategies to address the unique health needs of the target population
  • Work closely with the Ingkintja Manager to ensure effective program management and coordination

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor degree in a relevant field such as health promotion, public health, or community development
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities and organisations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Knowledge of the social determinants of health and cultural factors influencing health outcomes

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary package, including:

  • Base Salary: $87,106 - $101,575 (p.a.)
  • Total Effective Package: $108,604 - $125,029 (p.a.)*
  • Full Time, Continuous contract
  • Aboriginal Male Identified Position
