About the Role

Kids First Australia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as a Family Safety Specialist. In this rewarding role, you will play a critical part in delivering high-quality, safe, and effective responses to the needs of children, young people, and families seeking support through The Orange Door.

As a Family Safety Specialist, you will work collaboratively with a multi-agency team to deliver screening, triage, assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions, allocation, and coordinated referrals consistent with the Integrated Practice Framework, Operational Guidelines, and relevant risk assessment tools and frameworks including MARAM and Best Interests Framework. You will prioritize the safety of victim survivors and children using a gendered understanding of family violence and an understanding of child and family vulnerabilities. You will also play an active role in keeping perpetrators of family violence in view and holding them accountable through gathering and sharing information with key agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, safe, and effective responses to the needs of children, young people, and families seeking support through The Orange Door
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-agency team to deliver integrated practice
  • Prioritize the safety of victim survivors and children using a gendered understanding of family violence and an understanding of child and family vulnerabilities
  • Play an active role in keeping perpetrators of family violence in view and holding them accountable
