About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Coles Group. As a key member of our operations team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our team members and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the overall safety performance of our Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) and associated Spoke network.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive safety outcomes.
  • Work closely with CFC operations teams and key stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and implement safety frameworks and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Represent Coles Group at state regulatory and industry forums as needed.
  • Provide clear and accurate reporting insights to leadership teams to inform safety decisions.
  • Evaluate and improve business risk reduction plans to ensure effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate due diligence in meeting legislative responsibilities for safe product storage, handling, and distribution.
  • Implement and lead safety and wellbeing initiatives from our National Safety Plan.
  • Support the development and deployment of future safety direction and tactical initiatives for the CFC and Spokes network.
Requirements
  • Sound knowledge and experience in health and safety, critical risk reduction, traffic management, and transport safety.
  • Minimum 3 years working in an operational FMCG distribution centre, manufacturing, or automated environment.
  • Proven record of achieving results and leading change in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Clear demonstration of ability to incorporate safety requirements while considering commercially viable and practical solutions.
  • Proven record of providing technical expertise and coaching at all levels.
  • Minimum qualification – Cert IV in Health and Safety or related discipline.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building capabilities with internal and external parties.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Competency in safety reporting and evaluating compliance, to transform insights into frontline safety initiatives to address risk.
