Lead Mechanical Tradesperson Role

We are seeking an experienced tradesperson to join our workshop team as a Lead Mechanical Tradesperson. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles, mobile plant, and fixed equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydraulics, engines, and mechanical components, with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. They will also be able to produce reports, maintain service records, and execute certification-required tasks efficiently.

About the Job
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy vehicles, mobile plant, and underground machinery
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical faults
  • Maintain accurate service records and work orders
  • Participate in toolbox talks and safety initiatives
  • Support apprentices and junior tradespeople in skill development
Requirements
  • Trade Certificate (Heavy Diesel Fitter, Mobile Plant, or equivalent)
  • RII DES training (or willingness to obtain)
  • Competent Person (CP) status (or ability to obtain within probation)
  • At least 2 years working with flameproof underground machinery OR 5+ years in heavy industry
