Clinical Coding Specialist

Our organization seeks an experienced Clinical Coding Specialist to support the quality and revenue assurance space.
This role is ideal for highly motivated individuals with excellent clinical coding skills seeking to expand or consolidate their experience in a more complex casemix and ready for a new challenge.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert advice and guidance on Australian Clinical Coding Standards and National State coding advice to our clinical coders.
- Reviewing coded episodes prior to invoicing to minimize coding and documentation inaccuracies.
- Resolving ambiguities in coding and documentation by seeking clarification from relevant coding advisory committees and clinicians.
- Contributing to revenue recovery analysis, including identification and analysis of coding and documentation deficiencies.
- Participating in internal and external audits as required, including follow-up on audit recommendations and reports.
- Liaising with stakeholders regarding coding and documentation issues.
Requirements:
- HIMAA Intermediate/Advanced Clinical Coding or auditing course.
- Strong background in clinical coding with at least 5 years of recent experience at a medium to large acute hospital.
- Keen interest and understanding of the commercial implications of coded data.
- Competency in MS Excel.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and time manage.
