Job Title:

Coding Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient health records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review patient records, accurately allocate ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes, and assign DRGs using Solventum Coding and Grouping software.
  • Collaborate with health professionals to clarify diagnoses and procedures, maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Contribute to quality and compliance through coding audits, HACs reviews, clinical reviews, as well as maintaining PICQ and RISQ indicators.
  • Support continuous improvement and innovation by staying up to date with coding developments, implementing new practices from IHACPA/NSW Health, and actively participating in quality initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Formal qualifications in clinical coding – completion of a recognised coding course (HIMAA, OTEN) or a relevant tertiary qualification in Health Information Management, with proven coding experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ICD-10-AM coding with a strong knowledge of Australian Coding Standards and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in coding systems and technology, including Solventum Coding and Grouping software, along with strong computer skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians and colleagues.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, able to work both independently and as part of a supportive team, with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
