Clinical Coding Specialist
This is a key role that contributes to our revenue assurance and quality of care objectives. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Coding Specialist who can join our Health Information Services team. In this position, you will be responsible for reviewing coded episodes prior to invoicing, providing sound advice and guidance to Clinical Coders, and contributing to the analysis of revenue recovery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and verifying coded episodes to ensure accuracy and consistency with Australian Clinical Coding Standards;
- Providing expert guidance and support to Clinical Coders on complex coding issues and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and guidelines;
- Contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to clinical coding and data quality;
- Working collaboratively with the quality and revenue assurance teams to identify and address areas for improvement;
- Developing and implementing processes to improve data quality and reduce errors in billing and coding;
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including clinicians, coders, and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in health information management or related field;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in clinical coding and auditing;
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Proficiency in MS Excel and other relevant software applications.
