Financial Accountant Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Financial Accountant to join our client's team in Melbourne, Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee inventory accounting processes to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Monitor inventory balances and resolve discrepancies across systems and locations.
  • Provide financial analysis on inventory movements, cost of goods sold (COGS), and stock variances.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate and timely inventory data.
  • Prepare inventory reports and insights for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Support inventory controls, including stock takes and cycle counts.
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting of inventory-related costs.
  • Identify and implement improvements in inventory accounting and reporting processes.
Requirements
  • A degree in accounting or finance is essential.
  • CA or CPA qualification is highly valued.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly in financial reporting and compliance.
  • Proficiency in using SAP and MS Excel is required.
  • Experience within the retail industry or a similar fast-paced environment is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills are essential.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
