Job Title: Principal Engineer

">Job Description

The Principal Engineer plays a key role in the success of our projects. This position is responsible for designing, constructing and remediating tailings structures at all stages of the project, including pre-feasibility, feasibility, detailed design and construction stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and design of tailings structures, including selection of materials and equipment.
  • Construction and remediation of tailings facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Undertaking desk-based studies utilising data and information from various sources.
  • Scoping and pre-feasibility studies to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Design and supervision of waste facilities, ensuring they meet environmental and safety requirements.
  • Project management and co-ordination, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
  • Report and proposal writing, communicating effectively with stakeholders.
  • Mentoring a team of engineers as required, promoting knowledge sharing and development.
">Required Skills and Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in Engineering, preferably with specialisations in Geotechnical or Civil engineering.
  • Previous experience in the design, build and maintenance of Tailings Storage Facilities, with specific experience serving as Engineer of record on large projects.
  • Strong report and proposal writing skills, requiring excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work well with clients and colleagues.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously, delivering design services on time and budget.
  • Strong technical ability in tailings management, geotechnics, heap leaching and water management.
  • Ability to review reports and analyses, and carry out audits.
  • Ability to manage people, technical teams and mentor engineering staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership and business development experience.
