About the Role

This pivotal position within a thriving contractor company plays a key role in their continued growth and success. In this capacity, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive, detailed, and competitive tenders.

Key responsibilities include conducting first-principles estimating to meet high-quality standards and deadlines, engaging with subcontractors and suppliers for tender negotiations and coordination, managing the bid process to ensure tenders are presented effectively, and collaborating with team members, subcontractors, and suppliers to identify opportunities for added value.

In addition, you will provide insights and advice on practical construction methods, including project methodologies and scheduling, assess risks and opportunities to refine and improve estimates, participate in pre- and post-tender negotiations to secure favorable outcomes, and utilize problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and improve processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field would be an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years of civil estimating experience, particularly in Southeast Queensland, is required.
  • Expertise in first-principles estimating, especially for earthworks, is essential.
  • Proficiency in using Pronamics Expert Estimation software is necessary.
  • The ability to develop innovative solutions to outperform competitors, rather than just competing on cost, is crucial.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, commitment to achieving both corporate and client goals, and advanced skills in planning, reporting, and analysis are also essential.
