Shelter Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shelter Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our leadership group, you will be responsible for guiding the daily operations of our animal shelter, ensuring the well-being of both animals and staff.

About the Role
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the shelter, driving continuous improvement and supporting staff development.
  • Become the subject matter expert in shelter operations, with a strong focus on animal care, impounding, rehoming, and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve shelter operations, while maintaining a positive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise a small team, including rostering, task allocation, and performance management.
  2. Manage animal care, including feeding, cleaning, and providing medical attention as needed.
  3. Coordinate the rehoming process, ensuring animals are adopted into suitable homes.
  4. Maintain accurate records and reports, using digital animal management systems such as Shelter Buddy and NSW Pet Registry.
Requirements
  • Certificate III in Companion Animal Services or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience supervising a small team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders.
  • High-level organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
