Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to join our team in Weipa. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance of our vessels.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum

About the Role

The Technical Superintendent will report to the Contract Manager in Weipa and be responsible for managing day-to-day operations on board vessels. This includes ensuring that all maintenance work is performed in accordance with safety protocols and within budget.

The role requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines.

  • Manage client expectations and build relationships with customers;
  • Coordinate and execute daily running maintenance within budget;
  • Monitor and follow up on planned maintenance systems;
  • Generate and approve purchase orders and requisitions;
  • Supervise, coach, and instruct Chief Engineers;
  • Undertake vessel inspections and report on status;
  • Investigate and analyze root causes of defects;
  • Arrange surveys with flag state and classification authorities;
  • Ensure compliance with vessel certifications;
  • Plan and execute dry dockings in line with quality standards;
  • Supervise and evaluate third-party contractors and vendors;
  • Maintain daily communication with assigned vessels.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in project management;
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical or maritime engineering or naval architecture;
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in ship management as a technical superintendent or equivalent;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality outcomes;
  • High level of organizational and planning skills;
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines;
  • Team player with a collaborative approach and good work ethics.
