About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Superintendent to join our team in Weipa. This is a full-time position responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance and dry-docking of assigned vessels.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure day-to-day operations are performed safely, professionally, and within budget.
  • Manage client expectations and build strong relationships with customers on site.
  • Coordinate and execute daily running maintenance within budget on board of vessels.
  • Monitor and follow up on planned maintenance systems.
  • Generate and approve purchase orders and requisitions, and receive and inspect delivered goods.
  • Supervise, coach, and instruct Chief Engineers as required to ensure smooth technical management.
  • Undertake vessel inspections and report on vessel status to Regional Marine Manager and Contract Manager.
  • Investigate and analyse root causes of defects and take timely corrective actions.
  • Arrange surveys with flag state and classification authorities and other relevant parties.
  • Ensure full compliance of vessel certifications with flag state and class requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute dry dockings in line with quality standards, agreed budgets, and timelines.
  • Supervise and evaluate activities and performance of third-party contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure damages are surveyed and repaired in close consultation with classification societies and the insurance department.
  • Optimize and implement technical standards for new builds.
  • Maintain daily communication with assigned vessels.

About You:

  • You have experience in project management.
  • You possess strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • You hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Maritime Engineering or Naval Architecture.
  • You have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in ship management as a Technical Superintendent or equivalent.
  • You are a team player with a collaborative approach, maintaining high standards and good work ethics.
  • You possess high-level organisational and planning skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines.
  • You have strong attention to detail and can deliver high-quality outcomes that are accurate, complete, and timely.

The estimated salary for this role is AU$120,000 - AU$150,000 per annum, depending on experience. Housing and vehicle will be provided whilst in Weipa.
