
High-Level Chronic Pain Specialist

The role of a Chronic Pain Specialist is to provide high-level medical care and multidisciplinary management within the Chronic Pain Intervention Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering outpatient services, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to quality improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities- Medical Care: Provide high-level medical care to patients suffering from chronic pain, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Multidisciplinary Management: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and nursing, to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Teaching and Supervision: Engage in teaching and supervision of medical trainees, residents, and medical students, and contribute to training and quality improvement activities.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement and service development activities within the Chronic Pain Intervention Service and the broader Department of Anaesthetics.
The ideal candidate will have recognised specialist qualifications, Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, and appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Pain Medicine.
Qualifications and Experience- Medical practitioner registered or eligible for registration in Australia with unrestricted or 19AB exempted provider number.
- Recognised specialist qualifications, Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
- Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Pain Medicine.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team with strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Willingness and ability to lead and supervise medical and surgical trainees, residents, and medical students; teaching the management of the deteriorating patient is advantageous.
- Interest in quality improvement methodologies.
