Job Title: Clinical Pain Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Pain Specialist to join our dedicated team at the Lismore Base Hospital Pain Clinic.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist psychological services in line with the Clinical Psychologist scope of practice under the Health and Community Employees Psychologists (State) Award. This includes working within NSW Health legislative and policy frameworks, as well as relevant statutory requirements, to deliver safe, high-quality care and achieve positive, client-focused outcomes.

About The Role
  • Provide specialist psychological services to patients experiencing chronic pain, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans that address the physical, emotional, and social needs of patients.
  • Conduct regular consultations and follow-up sessions to monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care that is grounded in best practices and current research.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest treatments and technologies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
  • Registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Experience working with patients experiencing chronic pain, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
