About the Job

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Project Cost Controller to join our team. Reporting to the Cost Planning Manager, you'll work closely with project managers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to monitor financial performance and support cost recovery processes.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supplier costs, contractors, and materials using expert estimation tools.
  • Track and reconcile timesheets, invoices, journals, and project expenses to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Develop and analyze comprehensive project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports to inform business decisions.
  • Support the preparation and submission of progress claims and cost recovery from external agencies.
  • Provide financial insights and reporting for regular project meetings to ensure all stakeholders are informed.
  • Assist with the development of business cases and documentation to support strategic initiatives.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely invoicing and transparent cost management.
  • Collaborate with project managers to monitor cost performance and identify potential risks.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports and schedules to support decision-making.
About You

You are a skilled cost control professional with experience in infrastructure or project environments. You possess excellent analytical skills, are proficient in Excel, and able to communicate effectively with people at all levels.

Essential Requirements
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project cost control, with a proven track record of operating independently and effectively in a cost management function.
  • Experience in cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting, including managing timesheets, journals, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Excel and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software tools, such as JD Edwards.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, such as Primavera, MS Project.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Experience in rail or infrastructure projects, with an understanding of rail alliance projects and infrastructure delivery.
Desirable
  • Exposure to cost recovery and progress claims processes.
  • Experience in rail or infrastructure projects and/or working with agencies like RPV or MTIA is advantageous.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline.
