Deliver exceptional service and advice to local government organizations as a key member of our Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Risk Management Team.
This role involves collaborating closely with Local Government organisations, providing high-quality service and advice, contributing significantly to the risk, safety, and wellbeing of communities and organisations that support them.
The position includes face-to-face service delivery to various councils in Regional South Australia and occasional travel to other areas within the state. Flexibility is required to work out-of-hours shifts when necessary.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Collaborate effectively as part of the WHS & Risk Team to achieve key deliverables.
- Provide expert advice and risk management assistance to Local Government organisations on civil liability issues.
- Assist in developing systems for managing specific risk management issues in Local Government organisations.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with internal staff, Local Government organisations, other government bodies, and private enterprises relevant to Local Government.
- Raise awareness and promote risk management as a culture within Local Government.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of South Australian Work Health & Safety legislation, principles, and practices.
- Advanced risk management expertise and experience.
- Proficiency in ISO 31000.
- Familiarity with the Performance Standards for Self-Insurers (PSSI).
- In-depth knowledge of SA Return to Work Act 2014.
- Relevant auditing qualification or experience.
- A current SA driver's license.

- Understanding of laws relating to civil liabilities, contracting, common law, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of risks within Local Government.
- Familiarity with occupations/tasks/jobs within Local Government.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite and ability to learn new systems quickly.
