We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to fill the role of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer.

This position plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for Indigenous students, encouraging participation and achievement in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and provide pastoral care to Indigenous students, focusing on those at risk to promote engagement and success.
  • Collaborate with teachers and families to develop culturally relevant educational programs that empower Indigenous students to reach their full potential.
  • Work closely with the local Indigenous community to involve them in shaping school policies and programs, promoting cultural awareness and understanding.
  • Conduct home visits to discuss student progress and provide orientation to staff about the Indigenous community, enhancing cross-cultural relationships.

Requirements:

  • Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting and consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, obtaining a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department's Screening Unit prior to commencement.
