Job Description

Lithgow High School is a comprehensive public high school, located on the eastern boundary of the Lithgow Network, on the Western slopes of the Blue Mountains and the gateway to the Central West. The student population of approximately 682 is reflective of an evolving and diverse community.

Our school has a strong representation of First Nations students, approximately 26% of the school, and a 10% growing Multicultural and Language Background Other Than English component.

Our teaching philosophy is focused on developing skills and putting our students first.

Key Requirements
  • Approval to teach: CHI - Chinese (Mandarin) - Secondary and/or JAP - Japanese - Secondary.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and lead implementation of quality, differentiated language programs, inclusive of First Nations, Language Background Other Than English and High Performance & Gifted Education students.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to build a new language program focused on developing a positive culture of language learning in the classroom, across the school and within the wider school community.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff and community stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to implement effective classroom management skills and wellbeing practices, creating an engaging, inclusive learning environment that fosters high expectations and student success.
