We are seeking a Senior Assessor to provide support and advice to victims of crime financial assistance scheme. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and staff development experience, as well as demonstrated expertise in complex administrative decision making.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major new initiative for victims of crime. The role provides a unique chance to shape decision quality and integrity within the Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading a team of FAS assessors, supporting, and guiding them to deliver high-quality decisions in a timely and trauma-informed way
  • Enhancing Aboriginal cultural safety and victim-centered practice as core components within the FAS and service delivery
  • Assessing and determining complex applications where required, applying legislation, policy, and procedural guidelines
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in fields related to community and social services, social policy, social work, law, or public administration
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to draft well-reasoned decision notices for complex applications, supported by comprehensive statements of reasons
  • A sound understanding of the impact of violent crime with a commitment to enhance Aboriginal cultural safety and victim-centered practices
