Role Overview
The Maintenance Operations Manager - Open Spaces will lead a small team in undertaking a range of activities that deliver the overall maintenance of Council's Open Spaces. This includes managing the daily presentation and maintenance of open spaces, sportsgrounds, playgrounds, passive and public spaces, golf courses, botanical gardens, and native vegetation areas within the Cumberland City Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading a team to undertake turf renovation works and operate large plant and equipment, including tractor and implements and broad area horticultural spray equipment
- Maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction in all aspects of open space maintenance
- Ensuring effective planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance activities
- Managing resources and budget to achieve optimal outcomes
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve park maintenance and parks infrastructure related issues, current trends, industry best-practice, and new developments relating to maintenance services and parks operations
Requirements
- Relevant trade qualifications, e.g., Certificate III in Turf Management, Parks and Gardens, Horticulture, and/or extensive experience in a related field
- Demonstrated experience operating large plant and equipment, including tractor and implements and broad area horticultural spray equipment
- Current class C driver's licence
- Current ChemCert (chemical handling) qualification
- Current General Induction for Construction Work in NSW (White Card)
- Sound knowledge and practical application of WH&S principles and the Work Health and Safety legislation
- Sound verbal and written communication skills – ability to complete necessary paperwork and communicate effectively with team members
