Complex Claims Specialist

This role involves managing a portfolio of complex and litigated claims, providing advice and guidance to the claims team, and handling a range of responsibilities including investigation, negotiation, and dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of mixed liability claims, including litigated matters, to ensure effective case management and optimal outcomes.
  • Assess the nature of losses and coverage provided, then negotiate and investigate each claim, communicating effectively with all relevant parties.
  • Act as a point of contact for complex matters, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
  • Review declinatures and provide advice on next steps to ensure seamless process progression.
  • Support the team leader in managing complex claims, providing information on claim trends and assisting in strategic decision-making.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the wider claims team, enhancing their skills and expertise.
  • Offer expert advice on coverage and policy interpretation, ensuring maximized benefits for clients.
  • Proactively drive claim progress, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients, external service providers, and other insurance organizations to ensure cohesive and effective communication.
Key Requirements:
  • Experience in managing a diverse portfolio of mixed liability claims (including PI, Construction, and ML) is essential.
  • Legal qualifications are advantageous but not essential; strong understanding of complex and litigated claims matters is critical.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, dispute resolution, and decision-making skills are paramount.
  • Ability to build strong rapport with service providers and customers is vital.
  • Confidence in managing the claims process and all relevant parties is essential.
  • Experience in IDR and AFCA disputes is highly desirable.
  • Ability to identify and manage potential coverage issues is crucial.
  • Team-focused attitude with proven ability to guide less experienced claims consultants is essential.
