Mental Health Registered Nurse - Part-Time Position

Deliver high-quality mental health services to active ADF members in a collaborative team environment. As a Mental Health Registered Nurse, you will provide comprehensive care, risk assessments, and crisis intervention.

This role requires a unique blend of clinical expertise, interpersonal skills, and adaptability. You will be part of a seasoned multidisciplinary healthcare team dedicated to delivering top-notch mental health services to patients.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Risk assessments and crisis intervention
  • Medication management and case formulation
  • Providing additional support services as needed

You will receive robust support from both the multidisciplinary team and the Senior Mental Health team for your region. This includes assistance with crisis management, risk assessment, and risk management planning.

About the Location

The base is home to RAN Submarine Training & Systems Centre, Training Centre West complex, Defence Communications Station Perth, and is a trials/research & support facility. Health Centre services include primary medical, underwater medicine, nursing, mental health, physiotherapy, dental and pharmaceutical services. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 16:00 Monday – Friday.

Key Requirements
  • A current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia with AHPRA
  • Credentialing with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN), or a minimum qualification of Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing
  • At least 2 years' full-time equivalent post graduate work experience in mental health
  • A current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification
  • Familiarity with relevant State/Territory policies, national standards, and the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy
  • Recent engagement in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities
