Role Summary

We are seeking a qualified professional to join our team as a civilian Mental Health Specialist working with the Australian Defence Force.


This role requires delivering high-quality clinical care to military members, including working as part of a multidisciplinary team within a health centre setting and supporting diverse mental health needs.


  • Crisis presentations, risk assessment, and risk management planning
  • Supporting ADF Members with their initial intake and assessment with flexibility to accommodate presenting need
  • Case formulation and treatment planning
  • Programmatic treatment interventions
  • Care coordination
  • Group psycho-education

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing crisis presentations, conducting risk assessments, and developing risk management plans. They will also support ADF Members with their initial intake and assessment, using a flexible approach to accommodate presenting needs.


Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour, along with current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Additionally, they should have minimum 2 years post graduate experience in the last 5 years in mental health in a primary health or specialist mental health setting.


Professional Development

The selected candidate is expected to participate in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA, ensuring they stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
