About the RoleThe X-ray Facility is a multidisciplinary instrumental core facility supporting researchers in Science, Engineering, and Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of research scientists, technical, and professional staff to deliver operational excellence and innovation. Key responsibilities include aligning X-ray science strategies with UNSW's research goals, engaging in independent and collaborative research, managing the facility's operations, and ensuring health and safety standards.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD and be a recognised authority in Material/Chemical/Physical Sciences. They will have a research track record that aligns with the Centre's mission and demonstrate expertise in X-ray techniques. Leadership in collaborative research with impactful outcomes, securing external funding, and knowledge of research ethics and compliance are essential. Experience in teaching and supervising in a multi-user research environment, preparing samples for X-ray analysis, and managing commercial services is also required.
