X-ray Facility Lead Opportunity

The X-ray Facility at UNSW Australia is seeking a highly skilled professional to lead their operations and drive research excellence. This role involves collaborating with the Executive Director to align X-ray science strategies with UNSW's research goals, engaging in research on X-ray methods, and managing facility operations to support stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of research scientists, technical and professional staff
  • Planning for new capabilities and overseeing publications and reports
  • Expanding commercial services in partnership with the Chemical Consulting Laboratory
  • Ensuring health and safety standards

X-ray Facility Overview

The X-ray Facility is a multidisciplinary instrumental core facility supporting researchers in Science, Engineering and Medicine. With 12 experienced staff and 18 major instruments, the facility offers a comprehensive suite of laboratory-based X-ray techniques.

Requirements

  • Relevant PhD and recognised authority in Material/Chemical/Physical Sciences
  • Research track record aligning with the Centre's mission and expertise in X-ray techniques
  • Leadership in collaborative research with impactful outcomes and securing external funding
  • Knowledge of research ethics and compliance, commercial X-ray applications, and budget management
