Key Responsibilities for a Workshop Fitter

The primary objective of the Workshop Fitter is to maintain, repair, and prepare all mould gear and ancillaries. To accomplish this task efficiently, several key responsibilities need to be fulfilled.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, repair, and prepare mould equipment and tooling to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and guarantee seamless operations.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and support root cause analysis to resolve problems effectively.
  • Verify that moulds meet quality specifications and production timelines, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate smooth operations and foster open communication.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and process optimization by identifying areas for enhancement and implementing changes as needed.

Requirements for Success

To excel in this role, an individual must possess certain skills and qualifications. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably with experience in toolmaking.
  • A strong background in manufacturing or heavy industry, demonstrating expertise in mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • An ability to read technical drawings and follow maintenance schedules accurately.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
