Energy Systems Leadership

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Australia's energy future by leading the technical integration of distributed energy resources. Your expertise will ensure the safe and reliable operation of the power system.

Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is an independent energy system and market operator dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and affordable energy today. Our purpose is to enable the transition to a net-zero economy by 2050.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop technical requirements for distributed energy resources, considering industry standards, compliance, and evolving trends.
  • Lead projects addressing power system challenges arising from increasing DER, including designing solutions that support high levels of DER.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to develop solutions for a power system with high levels of DER.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to define company positions on technical requirements.
  • Create reports, recommendations, and presentations that convey complex technical issues to executives, boards, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, and support key initiatives under the Engineering Roadmap to 100% Renewables.
What You Will Bring To The RoleEducation and Experience
  • A degree in Engineering, Technology, or Science/Maths (with a power system focus), or equivalent relevant discipline or work experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office product suite.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong energy industry experience, preferably in DER product or service development.
  • Expertise in power systems and electricity market systems, with the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems.
