Grounds Maintenance Specialist

This role involves assisting in the upkeep and maintenance of school grounds, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will be responsible for tasks such as maintaining playing surfaces, preparing ovals for sporting events and carnivals, and performing equipment and plant maintenance repairs.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of horticulture, turf management and small machinery operation. A Certificate III level qualification or completion of an apprenticeship is highly desirable.

  • Maintain playing surfaces, including setting up of greens, top dressing, fertilising under supervision, seeding, turfing, coring, and sprigging
  • Assist in preparing ovals for sporting events and carnivals
  • Safely operate and maintain small machinery and plant, as required, considering the risk to self and others
  • Assist in the equipment and plant maintenance repairs, including carrying out tasks allotted under the grounds and gardens maintenance plan
  • Assist in the ordering and purchase of materials
