Job Title: Wordsmith for the Law Society of NSWJob Description

We are seeking an experienced Wordsmith to support our President, CEO, and Law Society representatives. This role requires developing high-quality speeches for various events, including ceremonial court sittings, keynote addresses, and educational events hosted by the Law Society.

You will be responsible for researching complex topics, analysing information, and providing expert advice on announcements and events. Effective communication with internal and external organisations, including the judiciary, members of parliament, and senior legal profession figures, is also essential.

This role involves:

  • Developing high-quality speeches through research and analysis of complex topics.
  • Maintaining awareness of organisational issues to assist in speech development.
  • Clarifying information provided and ensuring speeches align with presenters' personal styles and intended audiences.
  • Ensuring timely access to required information through strategic working relationships and systems.
  • Researching, writing, proofreading, and editing copy for various documents, including speeches for ceremonial court sittings.
  • Attending functions, announcements, and events as required, providing support and coordination for speech delivery.
  • Researching and writing content for Law Society publications, such as Monday Briefs and the Law Society Journal.
  • Providing input into strategies influencing public opinion on policy issues through media and PR campaigns.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of experience and education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in researching, analysing, and coordinating information, preparing speeches, and drafting reports.
  • High level of computer literacy using Microsoft Office and website publication.
  • Effective working relationships and strategic networks.
  • Politically astute and able to work independently under broad direction.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Deliver clear and accurate copy with exceptional attention to detail.
Estimated Salary

$70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
