About the Role

The Law Society of New South Wales is seeking a Director, Policy and Practice Lead to lead its Policy and Practice Department on a full-time permanent basis.

This role forms part of our Senior Management Group and requires an individual with extensive experience in legal policy at a senior level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Law Society's advocacy work through managing the Policy and Practice Department and providing high-level legal policy advice to the Chief Executive Officer, President, and Council.
  • Manage the operations of the Access to Justice Department, supporting the Law Society's mission to provide referral, information, and legal assistance services to the community and solicitors in NSW.
Requirements
  • Must be eligible to hold a NSW practising certificate.
  • Extensive experience in legal policy at a senior level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write reports, recommendations, briefing papers, and speeches in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop new approaches to address complex issues.
  • Proven management and leadership abilities, with experience in effective management of resources to meet objectives and competing deadlines.
  • High-level interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Compensation and Benefits
