Professional Support Unit Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Professional Support Unit Manager to join our team at The Law Society of NSW.
About the Role:
The Professional Support Unit Manager will oversee the delivery of services to solicitors, ensuring timely resolution of calls and emails. They will also manage the staff of the Unit, including ongoing performance appraisals, and assist in the development of continuing education products and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the Society's Professional Support Unit, ensuring efficient use of resources and effective support to the Costs and Ethics Committees.
- Assist practitioners with regulatory, ethical and costs issues, including answering email and telephone enquiries.
- Manage, prepare and edit materials for the Ethics and Standards Quarterly, the Law Society Journal, Monday Briefs and other resources available to the legal profession.
- Create educational resources and present continuing education seminars on regulatory compliance, ethics and costs, and general legal practice management.
- Review standards and requirements established for legal practices to promote compliance with the Uniform Law and other relevant legislation.
- Manage the content of the Law Society's web-based information services relating to regulatory compliance, ethics and costs.
- Manage secretariat support for the various committees managed by the PSU, including the Costs and Ethics Committees of the Law Society.
- Undertake research on matters relevant to regulatory compliance, ethics and costs to assist in the development of practical and educational resources for legal practitioners.
- Liaise with other teams within the Law Society to ensure guidance provided to practitioners is consistent across the Society.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulators, on wider policy issues to promote consistency among Uniform jurisdictions.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in law and current practising certificate.
- Practice experience and a sound knowledge in regulatory compliance and anti-money laundering legislation or policy principles.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective, clear and concise communication.
- Ability to create a suite of educational resources, including articles, checklists, alerts, presentations and workshops.
- Highly developed interpersonal, presentation and influencing skills.
- Strong prioritising and organisational skills.
- Computer skills including word-processing, email and internet applications.
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum.
